LIKE A GHOST IN UTAH

This is a photodump, essentially. Yeah get over it. My trip to Utah was a family affair. It was very fast, very busy, and I feel as though I still have a little whiplash over it. I am very grateful to have spent a few moments in such a special land with the best […]

LATERBLOG: THE MOST POPULAR HOST IN TOWN

Pre-mission, little brother Connor came to visit his old-sis in the Big Smoke. It was lovely to have him to myself for a couple of days, where I showed him off at church, and showed him some of my favourite haunts. Here he is in Trafalgar Square: Sibs. Connor and I are nine whole […]

THERE’LL BE BLUEBIRDS FLYING O’ER THE WHITE CLIFFS OF DOVER

On a pretty murky Saturday some friends and I packed lunches and headed down to the coast. Dover is a popular port where one can jump on a ferry and zip over to France for tax-free booze. We did neither of those activities, but we did brave the gloomy rainclouds and hiked along the choppy chalk- […]

A WEEK ON THE TUBE: MONDAY

My I-spy game is considerably A-game lately, so much so that I’ve decided to log the things I’m spotting on the tube. Without a doubt, I can attribute my creeper-peeper tenacity to my father, who has instilled in me, through a mix of genetics and life-long habit, a love for people watching. After a week of paying close attention however, I feel as though my practice has real damage capacity, and for the good of those most beloved rose-tinted glasses through which I choose to observe London, this exercise might have to live just the one week. I’ve seen too much! My eyes!

ICH LIEBE DICH, DEUTSCHLAND!

There’s something unacceptable about February. It’s dismal and cold and the drudge of normalcy and winter rolled into one just makes me decide that it’s the worst month ever. Don’t even get me started on that St. Valentine fiasco. Anyway, feeling the weight of the the winter, I slipped away for a few days to […]

OFF WITH THEIR HEADS

Have I mentioned how freezing cold London is lately? So cold, in fact, that for the first time in a long time I saw snow the other day. Granted, it was pathetic snow- the kind that sticks and then shrinks into nothingness in the time it takes you to bundle up, ready to face it […]

FILLING UP THE CANTEEN

Saying goodbye to Africa isn’t my favourite, but faced with the possibility of never returning, at least no time too soon, is nothing short of heartbreaking. My melancholy is due to my parents’ looming departure to newer pastures this Summer. They don’t yet know where in the world they’ll be moving to (how’s that for living), […]

WALK THIS WAY (SOMETIMES I GIVE TOURS)

My fabulous friend Leah and I played tour guide to our YSA ward a couple of weekends ago. The fact that we were amateur at best was successfully masqueraded by unfailing poker faces. Look, I’m not saying that it was all made up. But maybe I am saying that Queen Elizabeth’s first kiss wasn’t actually […]

DA ROMA CON AMORE

Well, I’m twentysixyearsoldandI’mfinewithit. Despite some jackass who, last night, told me I should start worrying about my wrinkles. If you’re as furious about that as I am, let me know so that I can form some kind of riotous pack and we can hunt him down and do some damage. ANYWAY. I celebrated my birth […]

LESIDI (L’AFRIQUE LOVE)

Remember when I was in South Africa MONTHS ago? Well I neglected to write about perhaps one of my favourite activities while there (aside from the most buttery, fabulous steak I ever consumed in my entire life, and riding around on a Segway… it’s the future, by the way). Lesidi is a cultural village that […]
