When was the last time you sincerely searched for guidance from the living prophet?
The people become wicked. Prophets call the people to repentance. The people accept the prophets and are blessed, or they reject the prophetsand begin to suffer the consequences of their wickedness. In response to the consequences, the people repent and follow the prophets, or they continue in wickedness to their destruction.
“And it came to pass that when they had humbled themselves sufficiently before the Lord he did send rain upon the face of the earth; and the people began to revive again, and there began to be fruit in the north countries, and in all the countries round about. And the Lord did show forth his power unto them in preserving them from famine.”
Rachael D: Ether 9:28-35 reminds me how important it is to be humble enough to follow the words of the prophets. The prophets told the people to repent or there would be a famine. They didn’t repent and the famine came. When they had humbled themselves, they repented and turned to the lord and then it began to rain. We see this pattern so many times in the Book of Mormon, the lord warns the people, they either humble themselves and turn to him or they carry on how they were living. When they don’t repent they are forced to be humble and turn to the Lord.
