What principles can we learn from the experience of the Jaredites?
Moroni is commanded to seal up the writings of the brother of Jared. They will not be revealed until men have faith. Men are commanded to repent, believe the gospel, and be saved.Three witnesses and the work itself will stand as a testimony of the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon. The Jaredite barges are driven by the winds to the promised land. The people praise the Lord for His goodness. Jared and his brother die. Prophets condemn the wickedness and idolatry of the people, who then repent.
“And they did sing praises unto the Lord; yea, the brother of Jared did sing praises unto the Lord, and he did thank and praise the Lord all the day long; and when the night came, they did not cease to praise the Lord.”
Rachael D: I like Ether 6:9, they did thank and praise the Lord all day and all night. It reminded me that I need to express my gratitude all the time to the Lord and to people around me. I like studying this story because the Lord was in control of their journey but when they needed air, they were brought up to the surface and had a break from the tempest/ mountain waves and depth of the ocean. We are being lead through our trials and we can also pray to come up for air during these times.
