What can you do to help your heart be softened by your trials and challenges instead of hardened?
Moroni marches his army to Zarahemla and defeats the king-men. Those who won’t defend their country are executed. The war against the Lamanites continues; Teancum is slain while assassinating the Lamanite king. The Lamanites are defeated and the Nephites enjoy peace once again and expand their territory. The plates are passed to Helaman’s son Helaman.
“But behold, because of the exceedingly great length of the war between the Nephites and the Lamanites many had become hardened, because of the exceedingly great length of the war; and many were softened because of their afflictions, insomuch that they did humble themselves before God, even in the depth of humility.”
Rachael D: After the wars Helaman goes back to preaching the word of God. In Alma 62 their afflictions had humbled them and the people repented and built up churches. They began to prosper however they remained humble and prayed continually. They remembered the Lord and all he had done for them. Remembering is the key to staying humble and this helps your heart to be softened during trials.
