When have you experienced exceeding joy because of the gospel?
Ammon rejoices that so many people have turned their hearts to God, who is merciful and mindful of all. The people of Zarahemla give Jershon to the anti-Nephi-Lehis so they don’t have to break their promise. The Nephites battle against the Lamanites and many are killed. Ammon reflects on the joys of missionary work.
“Now, seeing that I know these things, why should I desire more than to perform the work to which I have been called?”
Rachael D: When I was studying these chapters i kept thinking of D&C18 ‘ and how great is his joy in the soul that repenteth.’ Alma and the sons of Mosiah speak of their joy many times in these chapters, it is usually after they talk about their own repentance and coming unto Christ or those they helped as missionaries. We have joy because of the light of Christ unto life.
