Study Question: What can we do to protect ourselves from being led astray by false doctrines?
Summary: The sons of Mosiah travel to the land of Nephi to preach the gospel unto their brethren the Lamanites. King Mosiah translates the Jaredite records. He emphasizes the importance of the keeping of records. King Mosiah institutes a system of judges to protect the people from unrighteous rulers. Alma the younger is chosen as chief judge. Nehor establishes a false church and priestcrafts and persecutions spread through the land and take root in the hearts of many of the people.
Scripture: Mosiah 28:3 “Now they were desirous that salvation should be declared to every creature, for they could not bear that any human soul should perish; yea, even the very thoughts that any soul should endure endless torment did cause them to quake and tremble.”
Rachael D: Mosiah 28:3 stands out to me, the sons of Mosiah have been converted and now want to be missionaries. They couldn’t bear the thought that there are people who don’t know the gospel. They really understood the worth of one soul. In Alma 1:25-26 the people of the church were steadfast and immovable in keeping the commandments of God. Whenever their Priest taught the word of God they were there. We need to strengthen each other and teach each other the truth and that will protect us from being deceived.
