Study question: How can we overcome trials and tribulations?
Summary: Ammon, Gideon, and King Limhi counsel together and decide to leave their land in the nighttime after making the Lamanite guards drunk. Meanwhile, Alma and his people establish a city and are soon overtaken by the Lamanites and the priests of Noah. Through patience, long-suffering, hope, and continual supplication to God, they are finally delivered as the Lord puts the Lamanites in a deep sleep and they escape into the nighttime. All delivered peoples meet in Zarahemla and are received with joy.
Daily Scripture: Mosiah 24:13 “And it came to pass that the voice of the Lord came to them in their afflictions, saying: Lift up your heads and be of good comfort, for I know of the covenant which ye have made unto me; and I will covenant with my people and deliver them out of bondage.”
Yesterday we read that the people of Alma were warned to depart. In Mosiah 24 the people of Alma are in bondage this time they weren’t given a warning beforehand. They were still faithful but it was for a wise purpose that they went through this trial. They had comfort because of their covenants and their burdens were lightened until they were delivered. We can overcome our trials by turning to the Lord and remembering our covenants.
