Study Question: When have you experienced a change in heart because of your faith and the atonement?
Summary: King Benjamin’s people believe in his words and experience a change of heart due to their faith in Christ. Mosiah becomes the king and King Benjamin dies, the people are righteous. Ammon finds King Limhi and his people who are ruled by the lamanites. Limhi tells of their struggles. Unrighteousness leads to more struggle, faith in God will lighten burdens.
Scripture: Mosiah 5:2 “ And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.”
Yiksee L: I think our hearts are changing all the time. It never stays the same… That mighty change doesn’t happen over a day or a month but as we keep working at it, our hearts are always either softening or hardening.. That’s why reflecting and self evaluating where you are is so important. Thats why you need repentance. When i read the scriptures daily and choose the right, i feel my heart changing for the better.
Rachael D: Mosiah 7:33 stood out to me while I was studying. We need to turn to the lord with full purpose of heart. We need to serve with all diligence of mind. I was pondering the difference between our heart and our mind. The spirit touches my heart when I learn the doctrine of Christ. It’s a mental challenge for me to go visiting teaching or read my scriptures daily. If we experience a change of heart, is it easier to serve with our mind? We are promised that if we put our trust in him then we will be delivered out bondage.
