Study Question: What responsibilities do we have when it comes to the Atonement?
Summary: The Jews will be gathered in all their lands of promise. The atonement saves man from the fall. The bodies of the dead will come forth from the grave, and their spirits from hell and paradise. All will be judged. The atonement saves all from death and endless torment. The righteous are saved in the kingdom of God. Penalties for sin are set forth. Only Jesus Christ is the keeper of the gate.
Scripture: 2 Nephi 9:52 “Behold, my beloved brethren, remember the words of your God; pray unto him continually by day, and give thanks unto his holy name by night. Let your hearts rejoice.
Katy H: I like the emphasis in this chapter on one day seeing God face to face; ‘in our bodies we shall see God’, ‘restored to that God who gave them breath’ and ‘they shall return to God and behold his face.’
Rachael D: This chapter reminded me of a quote I like by Elder Eyring. “It is hard to know when we have done enough for the Atonement to change our natures and so qualify us for eternal life. And we don’t know how many days we will have to give the service necessary for that mighty change to come. But we know that we will have days enough if only we don’t waste them. ” In this chapter it reminds us that of the plan of salvation and how it’s possible through the atonement. This chapter teachers us how we can protect ourselves in this life and the joy to come. Spiritually minded is life eternal (smile, verse 39).
