Study Question: How was Jesus a “stone of stumbling” and a “rock of offense” to the Jewish people?
Summary: In these chapters, Nephi unites Isaiah’s chapters 5-9. The chapters are filled with symbolism and historical references. Chapter 15 has the imagery of a vineyard that is dated for by a gardener who does everything for the vineyard but the vines become wild. This is symbolic of the House of Israel forsaking their God. Chapter 16 is Isaiah’s call to be a prophet. Seventeen has the prophesy of Christ being born of a virgin and 18 and 19 further prophesy about the Messiah and His role as the Prince of Peace.
Daily Scripture: 2 Nephi 19:6 “For unto us is a child is born, unto us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder; and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.”
