Study question: Why would Jacob use precious space on the plates quoting Isaiah?
Summary: Jacob discusses prophecies regarding the Jews crucifying their God and being scattered until they believe in Him, the establishment of America as a kingless land of liberty, and invites us to reconcile ourselves to God. He then quotes Isaiah regarding remarkable prophecies pertaining to the latter days and the millennium.
Scripture: 2 Nephi 10:23-24 “Therefore, cheer up your hearts, and remember that ye are free to act for yourselves–to choose the way of everlasting death or the way of eternal life. Wherefore, my beloved brethren, reconcile yourselves to the will of God, and not to the will of the devil and the flesh; and remember, after ye are reconciled unto God, that is only in and through the grace of God that ye are saved.”
Rachael D: Nephi tells us our hearts should rejoice because the words of Isaiah. He knows our redeemer and his words are of worth to everyone. I haven’t got to the stage of looking forward to the Isaiah chapters, I need to work on understanding them more. An investigator I had loved second Nephi and reread it and finally carried on when we told him there are more Isaiah chapters later on. He wanted to discuss them because they were so enlightening.
