1 Nephi 14-15

Study Question: When have you encountered a principle or scripture that was difficult to comprehend and asked the Lord for help to understand it?

Summary: Nephi has a vision and sees the world divided into those of he Church of God and those of the Church of the Devil. Laman and Lemuel say they do not understand their father’s prophecies. Nephi asks if they have inquired of the Lord, then explains to them the meaning of the olive tree and the tree of life.

Scripture: 1 Nephi 15:11 “Do ye not remember the things which the Lord hath said? If he will not harden your hearts, ask me in faith, believing that ye shall receive, with diligence in keeping my commandments, surely these things shall be made known unto you.”

Rachael D: 1 Nephi 15:11 is a powerful verse. We need to ask in faith and not be like Laman and Lemuel who say they don’t know because it hasn’t been made known unto them. They expect the answer without asking, after all Heavenly Father knows them individually. In the bible dictionary it says “Prayer is a form of work and is an appointed means for obtaining the highest of all blessings.” If we want to know, we have to do some work.
